USCIS Case API Check is a Chrome extension that helps users track USCIS receipt numbers and case updates from their signed-in myUSCIS browser session.

This extension is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by USCIS or the U.S. government.

1. Purpose of the Extension

The sole purpose of this extension is to retrieve and display USCIS case timeline and status information for receipt numbers you choose to track.

The extension does not provide legal advice.

2. What Data the Extension Processes

To provide functionality, the extension processes:

Receipt numbers you manually add
Optional labels or account group names you create
Extension preferences (e.g., refresh frequency, notification settings)
Case information returned by USCIS endpoints, which may include:
- Status text
- Timeline events
- Form details
- Applicant name (if returned by USCIS)
- Updated date
- Case location or field office code (when available)

This data may constitute personal or sensitive information depending on the case.

3. Local-Only Storage

All extension data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local.

The extension:

Does not operate a backend server
Does not upload your data to developer-controlled systems
Does not transmit stored case history to any third party

Your tracked data remains in your browser unless you delete it.

To retrieve case information, you must sign in to your USCIS account in your browser.

The extension:

Does not collect usernames
Does not collect passwords
Does not store authentication tokens
Does not capture login credentials
Does not exfiltrate cookies

The extension relies solely on your existing authenticated browser session to request case data directly from USCIS domains.

5. Network Requests

The extension sends network requests only to official USCIS domains required to retrieve case information, including:

https://my.uscis.gov/*

No other external endpoints are contacted.

The extension does not use:

Analytics services
Advertising networks
Tracking pixels
Third-party APIs unrelated to USCIS functionality

All communications occur over HTTPS.

6. Chrome Permissions Use

The extension requests the following permissions strictly for functional purposes:

storage — Store receipt numbers, snapshots, and user settings locally
alarms — Schedule periodic case refresh checks
notifications — Notify you when a tracked case changes
optional scripting — Perform authenticated tab-context requests on my.uscis.gov when required

Permissions are not used for advertising, tracking, or profiling.

We do not:

Sell your data
Rent your data
Share your data with advertisers
Transfer your data to analytics providers

The only external entity receiving request data is USCIS, for the sole purpose of returning case information in response to your signed-in session.

8. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy & Limited Use Compliance

This extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

User data is:

Used only to provide the core functionality of tracking USCIS case information
Not transferred to third parties except as required to communicate directly with USCIS endpoints
Not used for advertising
Not used for profiling
Not used for creditworthiness or lending eligibility decisions

No human at the developer side has access to user case data.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Data remains stored locally until you:

Remove tracked cases
Clear browser or extension storage
Uninstall the extension

Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored extension data.

10. Changes to This Policy

If data handling practices change materially, this Privacy Policy will be updated and the revised date will appear at the top of this document.
